Viola Zhou is an award-winning journalist based in New York. She previously lived in Hong Kong, and has covered Chinese politics and society for the South China Morning Post and VICE. She now writes for tech publication Rest of World.

Viola speaks English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. Her passion lies in telling stories about the human impact of politics and technology. She has written about overworked iPhone assembly line workers, Hong Kong’s journalists-turned-cab drivers, and devoted fans of China’s censored boys’ love dramas. Occasionally, Viola hosts videos and appears on podcasts.
